About Monel K-500 or Alloy K-500

• Monel K-500 (UNS N05500 or DIN W.Nr. 2.4375) is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy that combines the corrosion resistance of Monel 400 (Alloy 400) with greater strength and hardness. It also has low permeability and is nonmagnetic to under -100°C[-150°F]. The increased properties are obtained by adding aluminum and titanium to the nickel-copper base, and by heating under controlled conditions so that submicroscopic particles of Ni3 (Ti, Al) are precipitated throughout the matrix.

• Heat Treatment: Solution annealing: 980 – 1040°C | Age hardened: 540 – 600°C.
• Alloy K-500 weldability is very good.
• Corrosion resistance is excellent in marine and chemical environments. This alloy provides excellent corrosion resistance in a range of environments including sea water, hydrofluoric acid, sulphuric acid, non-oxidizing mineral acids, salts and alkalis.
• Excellent resistance to high velocity sea water
• Resistant to a sour-gas environment, and is listed within NACE MR1075.
• Excellent mechanical properties from sub-zero temperatures up to about 480 Deg C
